Because we CARE about our seniors

Yesterday was another big CSFP day… unloading the truck, packing boxes of food, tearing down boxes, handing out and delivering the food to our local seniors on the East side of town.  We could never accomplish this without our hardworking volunteers!  We will meet up next Tuesday to do it all over again for the West side of Daviess County.  In all, we pass out food to over 500 senior citizens a month.

Helping her get home

Neighbor2Neighbor recently received a telephone call from a local nursing home asking for assistance for one of their patients.  Velma, an 85-year-old disabled senior, was to be released in 2 weeks, but was not allowed to go home until she had a wheelchair ramp in place.  For every day Velma stayed past that time, she would incur a deductible that she would be responsible to pay.

Since the nature of N2N is to allow volunteers to select projects as their time and skills allow, it is not always possible for us to respond to a project with a short deadline.  BUT, one of our kindhearted volunteers, Darrol, agreed to go out early the next week to take a look.  Within days, the ramp was built… just in time for Velma to come home.  Our volunteers are the best!  Thank you for loving your neighbors!

Cruisin’ right along

If we’ve been quiet for awhile, it is because we have been BUSY!!!  Cleaning, building walls, painting, re-cleaning and MORE painting!  We’re making lot’s of headway and hoping to be ready for inspection the middle of May.  The transformation of the building has been incredible, and we can’t wait to post pictures of the finished product :)  In the meantime, here’s a glimpse…

Jumping for Joy!

At the end of November, a group of men and their sons from a City-Wide Bible Study group that meets at Bridge Pointe Church, completed two Neighbor2Neighbor projects! They cleaned the gutters and did yard work  for Jean, an 84-year-old widow. They also did yard work, took trash to the street, and put together a trampoline for Charlotte’s, a single mother whose young son has a serious heart condition. The trampoline will be used for gentle exercise.

Everyone needs a helping hand now & then

In November, a life group from Bellevue Baptist came out to help Zuetta, a disabled senior citizen who has had 2 strokes and recent back surgery.  The group painted her front porch, cleaned the gutters, and also cleaned up her lawn. Zuetta was so moved and grateful!
