History

The  Audubon Area Community Services RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) has been in operation nationally since 1971 and locally since 1973

Mission

The RSVP program provides opportunities for people age 55 and over, with a variety of life experiences, to volunteer in their communities.  These volunteers serve on a regular basis, using their interests and abilities, to help meet critical needs.

Impact!

RSVP volunteers serve in organization that range from hospitals and youth recreational center to local law enforcement agencies and educational facilities.

On a national level, 480,000 RSVP volunteers contribute on average four hours per week of volunteer time at an estimated 65,000 organizations.  The federal cost of a RSVP volunteer is less than $.40 per hour, this represents a non-federal match of $1.13 for every federal dollar invested.

RSVP is a part of Senior Corps, along with Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions.  Senior Corps is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency that supports service and volunteering programs to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement.
